While there are a lot of advantages in settling in an apartment, there is one disadvantage that we all surrender to: the lack of garden space. It’s such a shame that because of this, a garden-less home is not only something to deal with but also the lack of space to raise and keep a pet.

Well, we can’t do anything about pets except maybe for some fish you can keep in a bowl or small aquarium, or perhaps toy dogs that don’t need so much rolling space. However, we found ways of bringing nature into your apartment!

1. Fresh-cut Flowers

Having a number of vases full of nicely arranged fresh flowers each week is the way to go. Now what you need to know is how to make these arrangements last longer.

2. Houseplants

A little gardening skill might be needed for you to keep houseplants fresh and alive as they pretty much stay indoors. Cacti and hanging plants are the best survivors.

Condominium units are always criticized to the limitations that they provide most people. While many would prefer the wider spaces, condominium units do not have that luxury.

Today, it is hard to get the ideal living setup due to a congested market today. Lands are not as open as before where you could put up an ideal house as you wish. Also, most of these lands are bought by developers to put up various improvements that can hold multiple living residents so that they can accommodate people who need housing today. You just have to get used to space limitations we have today.

As with any home, task lighting is a very important part of your overall lighting solution to bring the condo back to light. Task lighting is the most important of the three types of lighting systems for the home for it focuses on the functionality of the spaces we use frequently, shedding light as we need it to safely and properly complete tasks in and around the home. Task lighting through drop lights that are suspended from the ceiling allows you to vary the amount of light on a working space, or under the shelves and cabinets, counters get light to allow easy kitchen work safely. Most condo owners fail to realize that the availability of green products to retrofit condos are available for most homeowners who want to do their small part in the greening of the many major cities we love to live in. From active tints that seemingly by magic, change shades depending on the suns brightness, like those amazing Ray-ban ambermatic sunglasses that turns amber as the sun is bright, lightening as it cools. Window tints are installed professionally with an exception for privacy screens that gives a pane of glass a smoked look giving you privacy if you wish to keep out those prying eyes. (more…)

Green Living – Not as hard as you Think

greenfurnitureThere are now green furniture that have been produced with technology that has less environment impacting technologies. Most of our loved compressed wood furniture contains a lot of VOC’s or Volatile Organic Compounds contained within the plastics and glue used to bind these products that enclosed in a small space of say a condo, can pose a grave health risk for they are known to be cancer causing. New products that use recycled wood using better glues and even more traditional methods of woodworking that uses recycled wood as principal raw material. Other new (more…)

Bold Colors for Daring Owners

Rene | Condo 101 Tips,Useful Ideas | Friday, 30 January 2009

boldcontrastsBold and bright colors are the best types of color schemes for bland spaces like condos and if your character is more of the adventurous type, then bold is in for you. Colors that complement each other on the opposite side of the color chart are seemingly vague yet once there works together to make a stunning combination. Like the flowers of spring, color brightens bland walls and ceilings but tend to diffuse light into patterns and shades of different hues. Love solid colors, then by all means use them, use bold colors on door jambs and the door itself to bring them into focus. Need to hide some undesirable feature of your home, like the closet where you store all your unneeded stuff, color it the same as the rest of the wall (it works for the oval office where two doors have the same color of the walls making it disappear).
Playing with the color scheme of your condo is one of the best and boldest statement you can give as clue of your personality. To soften corners and edges, place a few plants with bright flowers to take the focus away from them, you also get a lot of free oxygen and less carbon dioxide.

Tamed Beauty Illuminated

indirectLiving in a condo, means you have embraced the little space you have for well, everything. One of the best ways to make a small space look so large, less clutter. This doesn’t mean that you don’t buy the stuff you need, you just get stuff that hides easy.
A fold-up bed that turns into a bookshelf during the day is a good idea. Tiered tables which is more tables in less space. What about those walls, fill er’ up with glass shelves that can be used display your collections.
Many options are available and most can be done easily by you with the simplest of tools. Want to give life to those ugly corridors, use indirect lighting for drama and an illusion of more space. Be sure to check your contract for any clauses that may require you to hire contractors such as lighting fixtures and other stuff.

Choosing The Right Condo

Rene | Condo 101 Tips,Information,Useful Ideas | Monday, 29 September 2008

Condos are becoming more and more popular with young urban professionals. They’re convenient first homes, especially for busy yuppies who need to be near their workplace, and are good invetments in terms of resale or rental value. If you’re looking to buy one, here are some factors to consider in choosing a condo:

Amenities – a major appeal for condos is their amenities, which can vary from the most basic to the most extravagant (small theaters). Most common amenities are swimming pools, day-care centers or playgrounds, gym, courts, jogging trails, etc. Define what you want and what you’ll use, then limit your choices to which condo offers these amenities.
Location – as with any real estate investment, location is key. A good location will mean a high resell value and a good return on your investment. Also, consider what you’re needs are. If you want to be close to work, with shops that are readily accessible, then a city condo is for you. But if you want a location with less noise, traffic, pollution and are planning to raise a family, then a condo nearer a suburb and schools may be what you’re looking for.

Car Condos

Car condos (also known as car condominiums) are most widely defined as purchased parking facilities. Although the term may apply simply to a designated spot in a private parking lot, usually it implies an individual, climate-controlled parking garage people can buy to store their exotic cars, motorcycles, boats and other items. Amenities include private bathrooms, concierge services, 24-hour security and clubhouses to entertain guests. Car condo developers are marketing their projects to the following demographic:
1. The classic car owner who wishes to store his/her vehicle in an optimum environment.
2. A person who has a secondary residence in a popular vacation destination and wishes to keep a car year-round at that destination.
3. A resident of an urban area where parking a car is exorbitantly expensive and where the car owner wishes a property interest in return for the large monthly parking outlay.
Car condo complexes offer a variety of service offerings from webcams where owners can peek at their vehicles over the Internet to private bathrooms for their owners to use.

Painting and art works are normal to be seen for people who want to invest largely on how they can make their condominium units something worth living in. While most people are more concerned on the matter of space, chances are they will least invest in paintings to be hung around their place.

But this should not be a hindrance. These are the ambiance factors that can really contribute a lot. Paintings come in various size and shapes. While others could care less and would pay more attention towards other factors, do remember that if you want a good condo unit atmosphere, check out these small things which comprise it.
