The Advantage of Condo Living

Nowadays, condominiums are rising everywhere. This is so because condo living is a great choice for people who are attracted to the idea of owning a property at a fairly inexpensive price and yet, well-situated in the city. Apart from being in a good location, condominiums have many facilities which unit owners can maximize.

One of the leading reasons why owning a condo attracts many people is because of the fact that it does not include individual land ownership. It is basically full ownership of the unit without the sole responsibility of owning the land. Also, the combined ownership makes facilities existent and free for all and such are the pool halls, gyms, club houses, and the like. Some condominiums also take the liberty of housing small business establishments such as a mini grocery, a bookstore, and eateries so as to give even more convenience so that the tenants wouldn’t have to leave the very building.

Another advantage is that tenants only maintain their own units and the care for the garden, hallways, and the lobby is assigned to a housekeeping staff.

Parking Issues

Buying a parking space is usually an extra expense at condominiums. Also, there are certain conditions which contribute to the price of the parking spot.

  1. The number of people staying in the area versus the available space for parking. This usually brings the price higher.
  2. The parking area itself. The spacing and the number of cars the parking lot can accommodate greatly affects the pricing for a parking slot.
  3. Security. The kind of security they have definitely contributes to the pricing. After all, you trust them to make sure that it stays where it is.

The Advantages of Condominiums

Condominiums cost much because of the advantage they have. Such as:

  1. They’re easy to maintain. You buy the space, you personalize it, and maintaining is something you don’t have to worry about.
  1. You could live very close to your work/ study area. Condo’s usually situate themselves strategically near business centers and schools. This is very convenient on those late evenings – going home is no longer a problem.
  1. Amenities. Not everyone can buy a house with a pool, nor an apartment at that. A condo provides you with the place to sleep in, and the amenities for your leisure time.

The Downside of condominiums

Although staying in a condominium would be a good way to start on the road to independent living, it might not be such a great idea for everyone.

Things to consider about staying in a condominium is that there are higher safety risks, considering that you may be living on the top most floor and that at any time natural disasters could strike. Moreover, staying in a condo costs a lot, from the fees to the unit itself. Consider your needs before picking out that condo, it might not be for you after all.

Nature in such a Little and Urban Space (Part 1)

While there are a lot of advantages in settling in an apartment, there is one disadvantage that we all surrender to: the lack of garden space. It’s such a shame that because of this, a garden-less home is not only something to deal with but also the lack of space to raise and keep a pet.

Well, we can’t do anything about pets except maybe for some fish you can keep in a bowl or small aquarium, or perhaps toy dogs that don’t need so much rolling space. However, we found ways of bringing nature into your apartment!

1. Fresh-cut Flowers

Having a number of vases full of nicely arranged fresh flowers each week is the way to go. Now what you need to know is how to make these arrangements last longer.

2. Houseplants

A little gardening skill might be needed for you to keep houseplants fresh and alive as they pretty much stay indoors. Cacti and hanging plants are the best survivors.

Condos and Attics?

Rene | Condo 101 Tips | Friday, 13 November 2009

While most condos are one-floor only. Some units have upper floors. Some are split level, with open mezzanine areas. If you live at penthouse level, even, you might have a sort-of attic. Some people choose to use these as sleeping rooms. You can try to renovate the upper area and decorate these for use not just as storage room, but also as guest rooms as well. These upper floors can be used as playrooms, guest rooms, or even a multimedia room, where you can set up your home theatre system!

Do You Spend More in Condos?

Expenses are the bane of most people today and apparently, a lot of us would think that we can minimize on it when we turn to smaller places to live in like condominium units. Apparently, this belief does not necessarily follow.

Remember that one thing that goes along with condo living are the dues necessary to make sure the proper maintenance for amenities around will be taken care of. Some people fail to realize this when they are offered condos for living and not until they are already moving in will they be able to realize these costs that they have to settle as well.

As with any home, task lighting is a very important part of your overall lighting solution to bring the condo back to light. Task lighting is the most important of the three types of lighting systems for the home for it focuses on the functionality of the spaces we use frequently, shedding light as we need it to safely and properly complete tasks in and around the home. Task lighting through drop lights that are suspended from the ceiling allows you to vary the amount of light on a working space, or under the shelves and cabinets, counters get light to allow easy kitchen work safely. Green Living – Not as hard as you Think

greenfurnitureThere are now green furniture that have been produced with technology that has less environment impacting technologies. Most of our loved compressed wood furniture contains a lot of VOC’s or Volatile Organic Compounds contained within the plastics and glue used to bind these products that enclosed in a small space of say a condo, can pose a grave health risk for they are known to be cancer causing. New products that use recycled wood using better glues and even more traditional methods of woodworking that uses recycled wood as principal raw material. Other new (more…)

Bold Colors for Daring Owners

Rene | Condo 101 Tips,Useful Ideas | Friday, 30 January 2009

boldcontrastsBold and bright colors are the best types of color schemes for bland spaces like condos and if your character is more of the adventurous type, then bold is in for you. Colors that complement each other on the opposite side of the color chart are seemingly vague yet once there works together to make a stunning combination. Like the flowers of spring, color brightens bland walls and ceilings but tend to diffuse light into patterns and shades of different hues. Love solid colors, then by all means use them, use bold colors on door jambs and the door itself to bring them into focus. Need to hide some undesirable feature of your home, like the closet where you store all your unneeded stuff, color it the same as the rest of the wall (it works for the oval office where two doors have the same color of the walls making it disappear).
Playing with the color scheme of your condo is one of the best and boldest statement you can give as clue of your personality. To soften corners and edges, place a few plants with bright flowers to take the focus away from them, you also get a lot of free oxygen and less carbon dioxide.
