Make sure that rules and regulations of the condominium suit your lifestyle to a T. If your condo does not allow children, don’t buy it if you plan to host your crandchildren. Or if your condo prohibits pets and you have a lovely labrador for a companion, that would be an outright mismatch ! Do not buy a condo just so you can challenge their existing rules. Familiarize yourself with past financial issues that have confronted the condo board and find out how they resolved it. Knowing this will give you an idea if you and the management see eye to eye on these important things. What possible challenges could the condo face in the near and distant future? Is it in a flood or hurricane area? Is there a future plan for developments nearby that could lower the property’s value and consequently, my property’s value? Ask the administrative office questions regarding your neighbors. Are they the kind who keep to themselves? Are they recluses? Has there been a past incident where a sex offender was discovered to be a tenant there?? If so, how was the situation diffused? Are the neighbors friendly? Are they interested in forming social relationships? What are the usual condo activities? Finally, you ask about the features and amenities of the place.
